The loading time for HBook Reservations page is too long

🤔 Problem

When I try to access the admin page Reservations, it takes a long time to load. Sometimes, it simply does not load and stop.

🌱 Solution

If you are having an issue with the loading of the Reservations page, please check the following.

  1. Check if there are any error in the Console. This can be done by opening the Inspector (F12, Ctrl+I, Cmd+I, or right-mouse click are the usual way to open the Inspector)

When there is a JS error, you will see all elements of the page, without formatting and without any possibility to run any action.

Yes, there is a JS error

  1. Deactivate all plugins but HBook and check if the problem remains. If not, reactivate your plugins one by one, to find out which one is causing an issue.

  2. If the error remains with all plugins deactivated but HBook, please send us a support request

No, I don’t see any error

  1. If the loading is very long, but you can still see the reservation list, please run the checks listed below as it may give you an insight on what the issue might be.

I can’t even open the Console

If the Reservations page does not load at all (or is very long), please run the following checks.

  1. Check the “Maximum selectable date” in HBook > Misc > Opening dates to make sure the max date is not too far in the future. A couple of years is fine, setting it to 2050 will clearly slow down the page.

  2. Check if you have any blocked accommodation for a very long period. Look specifically for a blocked period that would have not “End date”.

  3. Clean up the blocked dates. In HBook > Misc > Reset options, you can delete any past blocked period. If you know that you had a long list of blocked accommodation, you should consider this step.

  4. Clean up the reservations list. In HBook > Misc > Reset options, you can bulk delete reservations that are with “Cancelled” status. If you reckon you had many reservations with this status, you should take this step.

  5. A clotted reservation list is usually a sign of an issue with the iCal synchronization (external calendar that do not follow the iCal standard or incorrect set-up). In HBook > Misc > Reset options, you can delete all reservations that were imported via the iCal sync. You will then click on “Update calendars”, in HBook > iCal sync, to re-import any reservations from your external platforms.

  6. If you still can’t view your Reservations page, please send us a support request, we’ll check this further with you!

  7. Analyse the problem! It is best to tackle any issue you could spot when troubleshooting and check the source of this problem. Feel free to send us a support request and inform us of your findings.
