How to update front-end translations with updated translation file?

When we release a new version of HBook, there may be new front-end strings. We always update the translation files for French and Spanish, with the new translations. We include as well any updated translation file that has been generously provided by users.

Locating the translation file

There are tow different ways you can locate the file:

  • from the zip of the latest HBook version, in hbook/languages/front-end-language-files/

  • from your server at the following path

Importing the translation file

This will be done in HBook > Text/Translations > Import a file.

  1. Select the language that corresponds to the translation file you will be updating

  2. Select the file that was located previously

  3. Keep the checkbox unchecked so existing translations are not overwritten, and only new translations are added. This guarantees that it won’t be overwritten with default HBook text, in case text has been customized.

Before proceeding to updating the translations, we highly recommend that you make sure you have a backup copy of the translations file. You can do so in HBook > Text/Translations > Export a file.
