Can I charge a customer of the remaining balance?

It is possible to charge a customer with the remaining balance directly from HBook only if you use Stripe as a payment gateway. We have a more in-depth integration with Stripe for this feature, and we currently have not planned to offer this feature for our other payment gateways. If you're using a different payment gateway, the remaining balance must be charged through that gateway’s dashboard.

In HBook > Payment > Stripe settings, there is an option "Store payment method". If you set it to “Yes”, the customer credit card details are saved on Stripe.

There are then two options to charge the customer:

In Reservations, you will be able to charge the credit card at a later stage by clicking “Edit payments” in the “Price/Payment” column. From the pop-up, you will click on “Remaining balance”, which will autofill the forms. Finally, click on “Charge”.

The customer pays himself

You can also send a payment link for the remaining balance to your clients, included in emails or documents.

It is important to understand that:

these charge or refund actions must be carried out manually in the "Price/Payment" column of the reservation in Reservations menu
the transactions are done with Stripe, even if you can do them from the HBook admin directly. No credit card information is stored on your server
it is not a pre-authorisation: indeed, the pre-authorisation is only valid for 8 days (which does not correspond to the needs of the hotel sector)
a Stripe client is therefore created, with the associated credit card data. This allows for a later debit or refund.
