Can I send a payment link to my client?

Yes, it is possible to send a payment link to your client. You can send payment links via manual or automatic emails, and in documents. These payment links can be used for both asking a customer to pay or asking a customer to add a payment method for future charges.

Payment links functionality is currently not available for all our payment gateways. Check this article for an updated list of payment gateways that support the payment link feature: For which payment gateways is the payment link feature currently available?

  1. Create a new page specifically for the payment link form. This is where the client will be redirected to when following a payment link. Add at least the [hb_payment_link_form] shortcode in that page. We also suggest adding the [hb_resa_summary] shortcode.

  2. In HBook > Payment > Payment link settings, you will select the page you created in the dropdown menu.

How to use the payment links?

There are three different ways you can include payment links:

  • In emails sent manually: in the Reservation page, on the Emails column, by clicking on the “Add payment link” text when sending an email.

  • In email templates: in HBook > Emails, you can include payment link variables in the message of your email templates.

  • In documents: in HBook > Documents, you can include payment link variables in the template of your document.

For your information, you can check the full list of variables in this section of the documentation.

What does the payment page for payment links look like? How can I customize it?

  • Since you indicated which page to be used, it can be customized to your taste. You can add the content you wish, and it is only required to use the shortcode [hb_payment_link_form] or bloc “Payment link form”.

  • To display a summary of the reservation, you can use the shortcode [hb_resa_summary] or bloc “Reservation Summary”.

  • In HBook > Payments > Payment link settings, you can decide whether the payment link should appear as a button or a text. The text for the button can be modified in HBook > Text > Payment link button, and it is different for a payment and for adding/updating a payment method.

  • You can customize the text displayed on the page in HBook > Text/Translations > Payment link form. In this section, you will find different text fields, whether it is for a form that is for a payment and for a form that is for adding a payment method.

  • You can use a “Thank you” page. Check this help article for further details.

How to redirect the customer to a “Thank you” page?

After a payment has been done or a payment method has been added/updated, you can redirect the customer to a different page for the “Thank you for your payment” step.

  1. Create a page “Thank you for your payment” and add the shortcode [hb_resa_summary] or bloc “Reservation Summary” on that page.

  2. In the “Payment page”, where you have the [hb_payment_link_form] shortcode/bloc, add the “thank_you_page” URL, with the value being the URL of your new page “Thank you for your payment”. For example:

[hb_payment_link_form thank_you_page_url="https://www.abc.com/thank-you-for-your-payment"]

  1. In HBook > Text > Payment link form, you can modify the text displayed. You will find a string for “Thanks message for payment” and another for “Thanks message for adding or updating payment method”.

  2. You can add any information or details you wish to add on that “Thank you” page.
